THE COMPANY

Burn Standard Company Limited (BSCL), a PSU under Ministry of Railways was formed with the merger of two well known Engineering Organisations ; Burn and Company Limited (Howrah) and Indian Standard Wagon Company Limited (Burnpur).

The company was nationalized and functioned as a PSU under Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises since 1976. Then it became 100% subsidiary of Bharat Bhari Udyog Nigam Limited in 1987.

Subsequently the company with its two Engineering units at Howrah and Burnpur came under the administrative control of Ministry of Railways in September 2010. The refractory unit at Salem, Tamil Nadu, was transferred to Steel Authority of India Limited.
